ORMONDE VERNON BASSON

Drizzle fresh figs with honey and oven-roast for a few minutes. Serve with ripe camembert and savoury biscuits or with a dollop of crème fraîche. Alternatively, serve this special wine with beef fillet and a mild wholegrain mustard sauce. A slightly spicy dish will also do justice to the Vernon Basson or if you prefer a milder flavour, prepare a flavourful Moroccan lamb stew with Turkish apricots and serve it on couscous. A handful of blueberries will be a fabulous ingredient to snack on or use in a sauce or salad with the Vernon Basson.

Recipe: Honey-roasted figs with Camembert: Preheat the oven to 200 °C and then turn the element on. Place figs on a baking tray and cut a 2 cm-deep cross in the top of each one. Drizzle with honey and place in the oven for about 10-12 minutes or until just heated through. Serve with camembert and drizzle with pan juices. Pair with a glass of Ormonde Vernon Basson.

We pride ourselves in our Ormonde range – it must represent the finest wines from the best grapes we select.  A challenging statement to achieve, but such is our commitment to our Ormonde seal of approval, which we joyfully take to the task.
The Vernon Basson wine is dedicated to our founding principle that lived by the creed “middelmatigheid is nooit ‘n opsie nie", translated to “mediocrity is never an option”.
This wine is skillfully made to reflect both the character of the terroir and the mood of our Cellar Master and Winemaker Hennie Huskisson.

Description: This wine has a display of aromas ranging from black pepper, flamed cherries and blueberries

Style:  A full-bodied dry wine with ripe tannins
